Parents and Family Members:

Good evening - I hope this note finds you well, you have enjoyed the summer and are ready to get back to the school year. It is that time of year again when the Fall Sports Leagues have started and the Winter Sports Registrations will begin.

Please consider this the initial invitation to sign up for the 2009-2010 Hamilton-Wenham Youth Basketball Program. The information below will be distributed through the schools in flyer format but the Board wanted to post it here ensure we reach out through multiple channels. Please note the registration dates are earlier than prior years and will have a hard cut-off date as we need to make sure we have ample time to schedule gym times, set game calendars and order uniforms. We appreciate you addressing this process as soon as possible.

Register for the Hamilton-Wenham Youth Basketball 2009-2010 season! You can sign up for Travel Team Basketball (Boys and Girls - Grades 5^th through 9^th) and/or Recreational Basketball (Boys and Girls - Grades K-8)

YOU MUST SIGN UP BY SEPTEMBER 21^ST TO AVOID THE LATE FEE OF $25. THIS YEAR THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS AS THE REGISTRATION PROCESS NEEDS TO BE COMPLETED IN ORDER TO SECURE GYM TIME AND TO ORDER SHIRTS AND UNIFORMS. ALL FEES INCURRED TO EXPEDITE LATE ORDERS WILL BE PASSED ALONG TO THE REGISTRANT.

Below is a list of Recreation and Travel programs for the 2009-2010 season you can sign up for. Recreation Basketball will begin on Saturday, December 5, 2009 and conclude on Saturday, February 6, 2010. Travel Basketball begins with evaluations the week of November 2nd followed by practices beginning the week of November 16. The first regular season game is the weekend of December 12, 2010 and the travel season can go until the end of March 2010.

2009-10 RECREATION (in-town) BASKETBALL PROGRAMS K through 8^th Grade

GIRLS & BOYS RECREATION - GRADES K, 1 & 2 Instructional program teaching fundamental basketball skills such as dribbling, passing and shooting followed by scrimmages. Meets on Saturday mornings at the Hamilton-Wenham Recreation Center. Cost is $80 for the season.

GIRLS & BOYS RECREATION GRADES 3rd through 8^th Recreational program divided by grades. Instructional practices and games played within the league with referee. The practice and game schedules will follow the same format as last year. The cost is $120 for the season. ONCE AGAIN THIS YEAR, WE WILL REQUIRE ALL TRAVEL PLAYERS TO PLAY REC BASKETBALL TO PROMOTE BALANCE, COMPETITION, AND SKILL DEVELOPMENT. UPON REGISTERING FOR THE TRAVEL PROGRAM AND PAYING THE TRAVEL FEE, ONE IS AUTOMATICALLY REGISTERED FOR THE RECREATION PROGRAM.

Team T-Shirts will be provided by the league once the Teams have been identified and players assigned. Upon registration, please indicate the size of T-Shirt your son or daughter will require.

2009-10 TRAVEL (home and away) BASKETBALL PROGRAMS 5^th through 9^th Grade

GIRLS TRAVEL PROGRAM (5^th, 6^th, 7^th8^th and 9^th Grade teams) Travel program playing against other Girls community Travel teams. The Girls will play in either the North Shore League and are placed on teams and in divisions consistent with their playing ability level. Practices are twice a week and games are primarily on Saturdays and Sundays – 14-18 games (evenly split home and away) plus playoffs. Cost is $215* for the season plus the cost of team uniform. If you have your travel uniform from the previous season, you may use it as long as it is in good condition.

BOYS TRAVEL PROGRAM (5^th, 6^th, 7^th 8^th and 9^th Grade teams) Travel program playing against other Boys Community Travel teams. Boys play in the Cape Ann and Eastern Travel leagues and are placed on teams and in divisions consistent with their playing ability level. Practices are once or twice a week and games are primarily on Saturdays and Sundays – 14-18 games (evenly split home and away) plus playoffs. Cost is $215* for the season plus cost of team uniform. If you have your travel uniform from the previous season, you may use it as long as it is in good condition.

* The expected cost for the 9^th Grade program will be more as the Team will practice 4 days per week and will be run by a paid coach.
